This eighteen hole golf course was formed in 1890. The course was designed by Willie Park with assistance from James Braid. Situated in Strathspey, the course is approximately thirty five miles south east of Inverness and is around half an hour's drive from the Castle Stuart Golf links, new home of the Barclay's Scottish Open. From a humble beginning the golf club has evolved over the years and in 1999 a major extension and refurbishment
Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, the course measures 5710 yards, with a par of 70 and Standard Scratch Score of 68. Though not long, it presents a fair challenge for every calibre of golfer. It is naturally split into three sections - Holes 1 to 6 are played over flat parkland, holes 7-12 are played through moderately hilly woodland, whilst holes 13 to 18 revert to undulating parkland. The 'signature' hole of the course is Murdie's View, the 275 yard 9th, a short downhill par 4 with the spectacular backdrop of pine trees and the Cromdale Hills. Designed by one of the grand-masters of golf course architecture, James Braid (1870-1950), “The Boat” is set alongside the River Spey in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, only 10 minutes drive from the bustling village of Aviemore. The course is not only renowned as a demanding test of sporting skill but also as a magnificent setting for the game. Braid’s design features 18 completely individual holes, cleverly and sensitively shaped fairways lined by birch trees, heather and broom, maximising the natural landscape and producing a beautiful and challenging course. Established in 1893, Abernethy Golf Club is located on the B970 road between Grantown on Spey and Coylumbridge, just north of Nethybridge. On most days, it is possible to walk on without a reserved tee time. Families are welcome and handicap certificates are not required. Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, Abernethy golf course is home to many wildlife species. Red squirrels abound in the forest bordering the fairways and curlews nest between the seventh and eighth holes. Fees : Day ticket Mon-Sat: £22, , Sunday ticket: £25.

Situated on the west side of the village, this parkland course, after initial troubles with the Estate, settles on its present site in 1893. Harry Vardon was approached to design the second nine holes in 1906 and by 1908 the 18 holes were in operation. Since then the club has been well patronised by visitors who find its rolling layout and stunning views a relaxing way to spend their leisure time. Carrbridge Golf Course, located in the Scottish Highlands, is open all year round for members and visitors. The clubhouse facility is open from 1 April to 30 October but outwith these months - visitors may pay by leaving their green fee in the Honesty Box. Fees : Round £15, Day - £21, Honesty Box September after 6pm £15, October - April after 6pm £10.

With a par of 42, it may not be long, but while being short enough for the complete beginner, and younger and older visitors to enjoy, it also offers a good challenge for the more regular and experienced golfer.
